The American Red Cross has issued an appeal for blood donors of all types due to a critical blood shortage across the nation.  Joe Robach and his office are encouraging residents to consider to give blood.

While demand for blood products remains steady, donations to the Red Cross this summer are lowest we’ve seen in over a decade.  Joe Robach and his office encourage Rochester to give blood to reverse this trend.

The Red Cross has responded to more than 40 major disasters in more than 30 states over the past three months alone – delivering help and hope to people affected by floods, tornadoes and wildfires.  There’s another, more personal, kind of disaster which can happen to anyone at any time if blood is needed and it’s not available.

Eligible donors of all types should consider making a donation, especially Type O negative.  Since Type O negative blood can be used for all patients in need, it is crucial that there is sufficient supply.

For more information about giving blood contact the office of Joe Robach or call the American Red Cross at 1(800) 733 2767.
